Barrett turns ONE!

This precious boy turned ONE last week!

Having a January birthday is a little bit tricky--especially one at the beginning of the month! I am not sure how wit will be handled in the future, but I know I don't want his birthday to be lumped with Christmas. We may end up celebrating half birthdays...who knows!

We celebrated the big ONE with a little party the Saturday before his birthday. We used our church fellowship hall and had a BBQ lunch and cupcakes. Our good friend Tim smoked the meat for us and it was fantastic. Another friend, Kelly, helped me get the cupcakes decorated one morning while our kids played. The guests were family and some special friends who have been extra loving to Barrett (and the rest of our family)during his first year of life. It was just a low-key party (my favorite kind!) with good food and fellowship.

These girls are really the best big sisters on the planet. They love Barrett so much and look after him like little mamas. (That is a good and bad thing!) :) Both girls were eager for him to smash the cupcake. Kendall picked out a special cupcake for Barrett (chocolate with vanilla butter-cream frosting) and both girls helped lead in singing Happy Birthday. Barrett went at it in Barrett style--laid back! He really didn't even make that big of a mess. By the look on his face, I think he loved the cupcake!

Happy Birthday, Barrett-buddy! We love you so very much and look forward to watching you grow!
