Float Trip

IMAG0328

Evan planned a float trip for the youth and we decided to take the girls with us! Both Evan and I LOVE floating and haven't been in several years, so we were excited to let the girls experience the fun. We both thought the girls did great!

Kendall started off in one canoe with a couple of our youth girls, but when she wasn't getting to paddle, she was a little bummed about that so we moved her over into our boat. We finally worked it out so she could paddle in the big open spaces and she did GREAT! Arden wanted to move around a lot in the boat, but she wasn't totally out of control.

About halfway through the trip we stopped to swim. We heard thunder in the distance, but the sky was still fairly clear. The longer we swam, the darker it got and I finally told Evan we needed to move along. We got almost to the very end before it started raining! Then, lightening started just as we saw our stopping point. Our shuttle bus wasn't actually there yet, but thankfully there was another bus waiting and the driver graciously let us all wait with him. It was definitely an experience, but we all stayed safe!

The youth did great, too! No major catastrophes with the exception of having split up the two girls who were together and put each with a boy so they could move along a little faster. I am pretty sure neither of those girls minded being put in a canoe with a boy! HA!

Thankful for sweet memories and some fun relationship building with our youth. Look forward to floating again sometime!
