date night

For class this semester, Evan had to write this reflective paper on how well he manages his time. Part of this paper included him interviewing me to get my thoughts and opinions. I jokingly asked him if he wanted my thoughts on right now or during football season. HA.

This assignment sparked some good dialogue for the two of us. Evan is pretty good at time management, but like anyone else, there is always room for improvement. We came to the conclusion that Evan could put out a little less effort with school (because he's really smart like that) and get the same results, leaving a little more time for family.

We also decided that we would attempt to have once a month date nights for just the two of us, and once a week intentional family time. (Meaning actually plan to do something as just us three--park, ice cream, zoo, games, etc.) Since my love language is quality time, nothing makes me happier than for someone to plan time to spend with me.

Last night was a date night. Evan and I went to eat at a local Cuban restaurant, had coffee and dessert at another place, then came home and watched a movie. We had so much fun together. We talked about random things, people watched, and laughed a lot. I just love my husband and am so thankful for some time alone with him.

Kendall, on the other hand, spent the night at her best buddy Sawyer's house. Let me just say, when we dropped her off, she didn't even bat an eye! She loves Preston, Erica, and Sawyer (and Sawyer's Mimi and Papaw! ha) and I'm so thankful for our sweet friends who volunteer regularly to keep our girl. It's such a blessing to have friends with servant's hearts who believe in marriage as much as we do. Seriously, Preston and Erica act like having Kendall spend the night with Sawyer is equivalent to winning the lottery!

This morning I'm just thankful--thankful for a wonderful husband, sweet friends, great rest last night, and some down time in my own home with the sun shining through the windows. Thankful for the blessing of marriage and the gift of a child! God is so good!
